Garlic Toast-Garlic Toast Sloppy Joe Melts

Garlic Toast Sloppy Joe Melts
Ingredients:
For the Garlic Bread:
4 hoagie-style rolls, sliced lengthwise
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon garlic salt
For the Sloppy Joe Filling:
1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
3/4 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup water
For the Topping:
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Slice the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise and place them on a baking sheet.
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with garlic salt. Spread the garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of each hoagie roll.
Bake the hoagie rolls in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the bread is lightly toasted and golden brown. Remove from the oven and set aside.
While the rolls are toasting, cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Add the finely chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
Stir in the garlic powder, yellow mustard, ketchup, kosher salt, black pepper, and water. Simmer the mixture for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
Spoon the sloppy joe mixture generously over the toasted hoagie rolls.
Top each roll with a mixture of shredded mozzarella and sharp cheddar cheese.
Return the topped rolls to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve hot.
Servings: 4-6
